How do I add the Facebook Like widget to this blog/theme?

Are widgets such as the Facebook Like button widget only available for wordpress blogs I host on my own site?

No, that would unfortunately not be possible, but you could add a like button to your posts via Settings -> Sharing in your blog’s Dashboard.
