How do I add widget to Welcome Message box on Mixfolio theme home page.

  How do I get a “follow” widget in the message box on my Mixfolio theme homepage? The example blog in the theme showcase has “follow” in the message box-see link below.
  When I add “follow” using the add widget page, it gets put on the “About Page” not the home page.
