How do I adjust the crop on a featured image?

  • Unknown's avatar

I am trying to adjust the crop on featured images. I am able to select my featured image, but I am not able to select what part of the image is shown (like when I am setting my gravatar and I can choose what area will be shown). For example, if I have a head to toe image, it shows up on my blog with the stomach area, instead of allowing me to select the head. Makes my blog look terrible when all my pictures (mostly pictures of people) are all showing the middle of the person!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • That’s a great idea to have the Featured Image uploader present that option and it would greatly help since, as you said, it’s less than ideal just showing midsections! I’ll ask our developers to look into it.

The immediate solution is to crop your photos specifically for the featured image outside of WordPress before uploading. Uploading, first, the complete picture, then making a specific featured image.

The featured image starts at 228×107 and keeps the same proportions for the various uses of it.
