How Do I Alert WordPress to a Spam Referrer?
-
Hoping someone can help me. Just looked at my site stats and realized that one of the referrers from today was likely a spam referrer, and appears to be mis-using a link to one of my WordPress pages (possible copyright violation; at a minimum, this is a spammer).
I’ve tried clicking on the ‘Spam?’ link under the Referrers section for the link, but nothing happens. How else can I report the bad link/potential copyright violator to WordPress?
The link is shown below for reference:
Thank you in advance for any assistance that folks can provide.

Hi there,
I’d be happy to try and help you.
So it is still appearing on your stats page after you’ve completed the spam reporting process?
You did this by clicking on the ellipsis next to the view count, right? Here’s some more information about the process, in the event that you need it (thought it seems like you know what you’re doing!):
https://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/#marking-spam-referrersPlease note that it will only keep that referrer from appearing on your stats page.
I should note that self-hosted users and WordPress.com upgraded Business customers do have the option to install some plugins that can block these spam referrers.
Let me know if that help!

Hi there,
Someone linking to your site is not a copyright violation. If your site is public, it means every link on it is public, and anyone on the web can link to it for any reason they choose.
Clicking the Spam button in the referrers section in your stats only means that site won’t show as a referrer in your stats any more. It does nothing to the site itself. As that site is not hosted by us we also can’t do anything to it.
If you feel that site is breaking some law or violating their hosting provider’s terms and conditions, you need to report them directly to their hosting provider, which appears to be Neustar

There is no plugin that can prevent someone from linking to a website.
