How do I apply typekit fonts to my "andreas" theme?
-
I have a typekit id –
a message pops up when I click on Typekit in my dashboard that says, “your typekit id and javascript are live on your blog”
I’ve gone through the tutorials; the Typekit icon shows up in the bottom right hand corner of my blog – YET I don’t see where I’m supposed to access the fonts.
I’ve added two fonts to my kit – but I’m missing a step to get them on my blog. Now I’m using an “andreas” theme which is not supported; and I see a code to enter into my blog’s HEADER tag, but I don’t understand where that is.HELP!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you’re trying to use typekit fonts on a theme which does not support them, basically you’re screwed. The fonts will only show on themes that support Typekit Fonts.
Strange: I thought staff had fixed them so they all did now.

@rain: Yes, all themes support Typekit fonts.
Theme not supported by Typekit means you need to find and add the appropriate CSS selectors yourself instead of simply ticking the element you wish to change. See here:

Thank you both raincoaster and panaghiotisadam for responding.
It was definitely the CSS selector part that I had not done yet. Your link helped panaghiotisadam ….. I had read most of that BUT realized when I clicked on your link that I needed specific info about the CSS selector part – that’s the key.
So for anyone who is trying to change their fonts on a non-supported theme, IT IS POSSIBLE!! You just have to customize your selectors.
I was going completely nutsy over fonts …. smh :) -
You’re welcome. If you need help with the selectors, let us know which element(s) you wish to change. But you can help yourself very much by using Firefox with the Firebug add-on installed.

I would like to try typekit for text in post, right now I am, will continue to using the Andrea theme.
Andrea is not listed as supported with Typekit. The insructions: http://typekit.assistly.com/customer/portal/articles/6840-using-typekit-with-wordpress-com
further states that I can still use them if Insert Typekit’s script in the blog’s “Head” Element.
I believed that we cannot add scripts or access the “head” element even with a CSS upgrade….Am I missing something?
-
I use TypeKit myself on a WP.com blog. What you read about the “head” was either an article for non-WP.com users or a reference to the headings.
Even if your theme is not part of that dropdown menu of “supported” themes, you can tell TypeKit which “selectors” to use (for example: H1, H2, P, etc.) One easy way to find the selectors is to use Firebug or the Web Developers Toolbar on Firefox.
If you still have problems, tell us exactly what you’d like to change on your Andrea theme and we’ll try to help.

Yes you are correct those are directions for non-Wp.com.
You are both correct in saying its best to have one or both of those firefox plug ins.
it looks like the selector for text in the body of posts is “P”.–Thanks, for the help.

I am using a supported theme (I changed it specifically so I could change fonts easily), Pilcrow, but can’t get the Page Elements box to come up so I can apply the elements. So, in absence of the Page Elements box, I was able to successfully change the body text using P (thanks for that tip), but how do I change the headers? What is H1, H2, etc? Thank you.

By the way, I also installed the Firefox add-on mentioned above but I’m not sure how to use it to help with this problem.

Hi.
I also would like to use typekit fonts with a wordpress.com theme that’s not supported (Tarski). I don’t have access to the html, so I can’t install Javascript into the head tag. I only have access to the CSS stylesheet.
It seems there’s a way to just add the selectors to the Kit Editor, but I haven’t been able to make that work. I use Chrome and am trying to use DejaRip as my sans serif. I was trying it with the “p” selector, but the body of my posts was unaffected.
Thanks for your assistance.

@tsusanchang: Your question is about a completely different theme. For the sake of organization, please start a separate topic and we’ll take it from there:

I’m using TypeKit and everything is formatted except for the permalink titles. Is there a permalink selector?
I found an old tutorial on how to use typekit and it included a long list of selectors and it worked on my theme (even though it was written for Twenty-Ten). It’s very helpful if you’re still having trouble.
