How do I archive old comments from my blog and keep categories in blog?
-
How can I archive old comments for future use but still keep my blog with the categories, etc. I did this last year, but can’t figure it out. I have tried the export option, but all I have is a file, and the comments are still on my blog.
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,
The Export tool is used to simply create a copy of all of your blog’s content, including comments and categories.
Would you be able to walk me through what you would like to do with your comments? Users are able to disable comments on their blog via their Dashboard > Settings > Discussion.
However this will not remove old comments from your blog, but will disallow users from posting comments on new articles.

I am a teacher and I want to get rid of all the posts from the last year. last year, I was able to take all the posts, move them to a new blog for keeping, and then all start fresh. I also do not want to manually delete 100s of pages of posts. Does this make sense?

Hi Chris,
You can save a copy of all of last years posts and comments by utilizing our Export tool. Directions on how to do that are available here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/Once you have created the Export file, let me know and I can go ahead and empty your blog for you.
Another option would be to create a new blog to which you could transfer all of your old content:
