How do I archive the url from my old blog into my new blog?
-
Kind of amazed that WordPress.com displays that code. I’m not really a code expert. Perhaps another volunteer, or a staff member, would be able to figure out how to modify that to remove the space (or “padding”) between it and the previous widget.

I tagged for a modlook so hopefully someone will help out. Thank you very, very much for all your help. I really appreciate it.
Oh, I love your website and am following it. It’s great!
Take care and Bless You for all you have done for me. Thank you! Hugs

You’ve asked a lot of questions here, and it looks like musicdoc1 was able to answer most of them for you–thanks Musicdoc1!
If you let me know what you are still having trouble with, I’m happy to help.

@ blueporchers,
You’re welcome. Thanks for compliment.@ lizthefair,
You’re welcome. Her Networkedblog widget appears well below the other widgets, and she doesn’t want that effect. I presume there is spacing or padding code that may be removed to eliminate that unwanted space. -
@lizthefair,
I do not want the footer in the code for the NETWORKBLOG widget. I have it in the sidebar but the code is stopping it. I am Syndicated at NETWORKEDBLOG and It’s in a Text Widget. I have two others for syndication and would like them in the same place but the person who set my old blog up put the other links in a link widget. I know nothing about codes. lol
Also, I imported my old blog into the archive of this new one and the hits did not add together so I need the total count which is over 12,000 and It only says 60 when It shows on the blog. In the Widget It does say the total count of hits but It archived the hits with the posts from the old blog. I was denied to blog for someone because of my hits being low so this is very important for the total, 12,000+, shows especially when It already shows me in the widget.
Doc said you could transfer my subscribers for me. I am hoping that you can.I know this is a lot but I really need and appreciate the help. Talk soon.

This code has been commented out, which means it’s not displayed on your site. Did someone fix that for you?

I see the two links to syndication feeds. The first one goes to an affiliate marketing -type service that isn’t allowed on WordPress.com and the other goes to a broken host gator site. I recommend you remove the links completely.

I don’t understand what you are asking here. Are you missing posts, or are you having trouble with your stats?
Doc said you could transfer my subscribers for me. I am hoping that you can.
I can transfer subscribers if the old site and the new site are both in the same account. Please tell me the full site address for the old blog and the new blog, and assuming they are both in your current account, I can move them for you.

I think she’s asking to have the views (page views) count from the old blog added to those of the new, in WordPress stats.

Thanks, musicdoc1.
I’ve moved the subscriptions.

blueporchers–could you confirm that is what you meant? If so, I can merge your stats from the old site into the new one.

Hello Ladies!
If you can look I’ve had my account since April, 2011. The Syndication links have been there on the old blog the whole time. All I did was go to NETWORKEDBLOGS and copy the updated code. If I have to delete all 3 of them how do I find new one’s? Is there a list somewhere?
I have a Blog Stats Catagory/Widget on both blogs and the new blog didn’t add them together on the page everyone sees. On my Dashboard, It shows me the total which is 12K+ hits, but does not show total hits, which is the title I used in a stats box. It only shows the new blog hits. I would like them added together to have the correct number, please.
OLD BLOG: http://blueporchersfashionblog.wordpress.com
NEW BLOG: http://blueporchersslfashionblog.wordpress.comI would also like to change back to the Ocean Mist Theme, but I am afraid I will not be able to get everything to show again.
My media files did copy over so Doc said I would just have to copy the links and add Image Widgets and they will come back and show on my new blog. Do I really have to do all that again? lol I am not computer/code savvy. My Mentor set up my first blog for me so I don’t know what I’m doing. lol
Both blogs are on the same Blue Porchers account.
Thank you very much to both of you Ladies! If you have any more questions, just ask. Take care, hugs

Can you tell me why you decided to move to a new blog instead of continuing on the old one? It seems like most of what you wanted was working well over there. It might be easier to fix what ever it was that made you want to move than it will be to make a new site look exactly like the old one.

I’m not sure I understand what you are asking here, but if the links are working the way you want them to on the old site, I suggest you copy the widgets and code from the old site and duplicate them on the new site.

The 12,345 number you see on your dashboard isn’t the true count, it’s a place holder. You may want to hold off on displaying that widget until your new site has been up and running for a while. There is no way to get the widget to show hits from the new site and the old site combined.
I would also like to change back to the Ocean Mist Theme, but I am afraid I will not be able to get everything to show again
This theme is retired, so while you can keep using it on your old site, you won’t be able to use it on the new one.

Are you talking about the images in the sidebar of your old site? Those are image widgets. If you add image widgets to the new site you can copy the information from the old widgets and paste them in the same spots on the new widgets. This is the only way to get them to show on the new site.

Hi Lizthefair,
I was in and out of the hospital and physical in-patient rehab. I didn’t blog in 2013, and most of 2014. I really didn’t want everyone to see that. That is why I set up the new blog. Doc and yourself on page 1 said WordPress never used to allow links like NETWORKEDBLOGS, but I’ve been syndicated by them since soon after I started blogging in 2011. I just wanted to know If you could change the code from a footer and add it in or just below my 2 other syndications. You said those links were not good anymore so is there a list where I could get syndicated? Only thing is I wouldn’t get syndicated until after I blog for awhile and get new sponsors.Thank you for helping me and moving my subscribers over to the new blog. I appreciate it.

Hi Blue,
I just wanted to know If you could change the code from a footer and add it in or just below my 2 other syndications.
If I’m understanding correctly, you’re looking to change the links shown in this screenshot:
Is that correct? Alternatively, you may be referring to this section:
If you’re referring to the former, you can change that list of links here:
https://blueporchersslfashionblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/link-manager.php
You’ll notice two of those links are in the SYNDICATIONS category. You can either edit those items, remove them, or add new links in their place. Here are some instructions on how to do that:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/blogroll/edit-a-blogroll-link/
If you’re referring to the latter, you’ll need to edit that here:
https://blueporchersslfashionblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php
Towards the bottom of your widget area, you’ll see this Text Widget:
That widget contains a code that it looks like you grabbed from elsewhere. It would probably be easiest if you could regenerate that code from where you originally created it. Do remember where you generated that code from?
-
The code I want to change is the NETWORKEDBLOGS code. I don’t know anything about changing codes or even understanding them. It says the word “footer” and “padding” and I want to get rid of those so the icon moves further up in the blog under the other Syndication links, which I need new places that will syndicate me but don’t know where to look. Someone gave me a url of groups that syndicate blogs but that was a very long time ago. I need that url again. Does anyone know what that website url is?
I really hope you can help. Thank you.
Blue -
OPPS! Yes, I copied it from the NETWORKEDBLOGS WEBSITE BUT NO ONE CAN HELP ME CHANGE THE CODING.
-
If I understand correctly, you’re trying to move this whole box up:
If so, start here:
https://blueporchersslfashionblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php
Click on the bottom widget (“NETWORKEDBLOGS – SYNDICATED”) and drag that widget to wherever you would like it on your sidebar. You do not need to change the code in that widget to reorder it on your sidebar.
