How do I assign categories to my posts (I have a "premium" theme = Luscious)

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I have reviewed the help docs for categories, but the screenshots and help advice do not match my own particular blog: celibacyandthesinglegirl.com

In the past, when I had a problem, I was told that the solution was different than was usually offered, due to the premium thing.

Would you please redirect me to the help forum for “Luscious”?

Specific question: all of my posts are apparently being assigned to a default category (single girl) even though I don’t remember choosing a default category.

I have added new categories, but for several months, I have been unable to assign new posts to them. When I go into a post to edit it, there is no option to reassign the category.

    Please advise.

    Hi there,

Assigning categories is the same for all WordPress.com blogs, no matter what theme they use. I’d be happy to help you get the categories working the way you need them!

You can choose the default category for your blog under Settings > Writing in your dashboard. Next to “Default Post Category” use the drop down menu to select what category you want to use as the default.

Then, when you write or edit a post, you can choose a different category using the Categories module. You can see how that looks in the post editor here: Adding Categories via the Categories Module

If you don’t see the Categories module in your post editor, you may need to enable it first. To do that, click on the Screen Options tab in the upper right. Check the box next to Categories there, and the module should appear in your post editor. Then, you can pick the categories for your post.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that!
