how do i attach a picture to blog post that automatically posts to facebook?

    i write a post. it automatically goes to the facebook page, but I can’t figure out how to get a picture to go with it to facebook! there’s always just a big blank space where the picture should be!

    Someone will surely correct me if I’m wrong about this … but …

    When you publicise from WordPress.com onto Facebook, the code I believe has an algorithm for choosing which image to represent your post with (it’s automatic, you can’t specify which image). The algorithm doesn’t seem to like images that are “small”, and may just simply ignore them … So for instance – https://type1caregivers.wordpress.com/2015/09/14/another-new-nurse/

    Only has a quite small image of “school nurse” logo …

    What I suspect is happening is that it’s scanning your blogpost and not finding an image that meets whatever the algorithm wants size wise. So my suggestions :

    1. Would be to use a larger image, that is a bigger pixel size within the blog post itself.
    (optionally) 2. Include a featured image with a larger pixel size

    Another thing I found happening on my blog was that it would grab an image from the sidebar. So a default larger pixel size image on the sidebar might give it a “default” image where you don’t want to put images in your blog post for whatever reason. Mine was my avatar for a long time, which I believe was being picked up from the sidebar.

    When I say larger pixel sixe, probably something like 1024 pixels or wider on the “long edge”.

    My experiences with the “Publicize” in WordPress.com is that there are some “fiddly” parts to it, and trial and error usually comes up with a solution … Google+ BTW has a slightly different criteria for selecting images, so I found it’s possible to fix in Facebook, and then it breaks in Google+ and vice versa.
