How do I begin creating my website?

I am trying to start a website but I am seeing only instructions and non-clickable diagrams. Is that because my computer is ancient and does not support the program or is there some step I am missing? I just signed up and am rather clueless. Thanks!

For starters did you register a blog or just an account? If you did register a new blog what is the URL (web address) please?

Hi, all of you kind people who replied. I will check out each person’s recommendations in turn and see what works. I don’t think I signed up for a blog: I thought I had to choose between doing a blog or doing a website! Anyway, thank you so much! I will let you know what I come up with, if you don’t mind.

well if you are new to blogging or websites, then go and create your account at wordpress.com .
Now after login , you will see dashboard with many items. just search for the particular term in Google.
