How do I begin to use tags with my posts? Can I add tags to previous posts?

I’ve never used tags. I have hundreds of posts without tags.

When I’m adding new tags what does it mean when it asks for a “Name” and a “Description.” The name of what? Of a particular post? For example, the title, and a description of that post?

The name is the name of the tag. So if you’re blogging a lot about fruit trees, as a random example, you might create tags like:
fruit
trees
produce
hobbies (assuming it’s a hobby, not your job)etc.
Then the description is just if you want to throw in a bit more about the tag itself. Tags can be a bit limiting since they’re generally one or two words, so you might find yourself wanting to explain it a bit, if to no one else but yourself so you remember for later! :)
