How do I block a follower?
-
Someone I don’t know who appears to have a dummy profile has started following my blog. Can I block them?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
There is no effective way to block subscribers, so it would be ineffective to provide the ability to manually unfollow or unsubscribe a user. A follower could create a new account, username, or e-mail address and refollow the blog. Since IP addresses are dynamic, blocking the address would not work either. Also, other users who are currently on the same IP address might inadvertently be blocked as well.
However, I have a few recommendations: Make sure comment moderation is turned on Settings > Discussion so that all comments have to be approved. That way nothing will get through to the public side of your site without your approval.
Alternatively, you can set your site to private and then invite only those that you desire to view your site.
Feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

It’s true that they might re-follow you, however, you CAN unsubscribe a follower. Put the URL of your blog at the end of this:https://wordpress.com/people/followers/
for instance, if it’s a follower of the blog your question is linked to, then it would be
https://wordpress.com/people/followers/adventuresofhannah.wordpress.com
then go through the list of followers til you come to the one you want to unsubscribe and click the ‘remove’ beside their name.
In my experience followers with ‘dummy profiles’ are either spammers or new bloggers who don’t know how to operate a blog.

Thanks for the help. I assumed they were either spammers or creepers. I have very few followers so it’s no big deal for me to continue “blocking” them.
