How do I block a follower or at least make them invisible?
-
I have a follower on my blog that is a pornographic site. If anyone clicks on them to see who my followers are they will be taken to a very raunchy graphic page. I do not want to be affiliated with them how can I block them from being visible as a follower?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If it’s a free hosted WordPress.com blog then report it as a mature content blog. See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/report-blogs/
Then go to > Dashboard > Settings > Discussion and scroll way down the page to “Maximum Rating” under Avatars and select:
G — Suitable for all audiences
Then only avatars that are rated G will be displayed on the blog. -
We cannot block or delete subscribers from public blogs. Everyone on the internet can view and follow any public blog. That is in fact what the public designation means and anyone anyone with internet access can follow your public blog’s RSS Feed.
You can change your blog visibility to “private” http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/ Please read this about public blogs that become private blogs > Blog Privacy and Subscribers > http://wpcommaven.wordpress.com/2011/09/05/blog-privacy-and-subscribers/

Thanks for the help! I am new to the blogging world so every day seems to be education filled. I don’t think the offensive blog is a wordpress blog. It takes you right to a web page with no interaction other than to give them an email. Yeah right, like that’s going to happen.

I have followed these steps as well however I still have a pornographic site following mine. I do not want to click on the link again to find out if it is a hosted site. Are there any other suggestions you may have to avoid this?

I too have this happening! It really makes me feel ill and to have no deleting method is a really frustrating!

I have started to look into other hosting sites. Blogger for example will allow you to block a follower. If your blog is public they of course can still see it and read it, or use another program to view it but they will not be on your follow list. Why WordPress doesn’t do this is beyond me. I have had such a positive blogging experience to this point but this is a serious deal breaker for me if I can not at least control this. And taking my blog private will not work in achieving what I want to continue to do.
