  how do i cancel a domain name? and not make another one?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Please head over to the My upgrades page and Cancel the domain upgrade from there. Please read the instructions here
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/cancel-domain/ before you begin cancelling the domain.
  Do remember that cancelling a domain is irreversible and you might not get the same domain again if you wish to purchase later.

  If you are unable to cancel the domain, please do let us know the domain name you wish to cancel. We will request a staff to help you out with it.

  You can follow the instructions from here(https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/) to delete the blog. A word of caution though, blogs/site once deleted cannot be restored ever. So please be careful.

  You can’t delete your WordPress.com account. If you wish you can keep your account inactive. Here (https://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/) are some instructions on how to go about it.
