How do I cancel domain mapping subscription?

I have recently registered for a domain and domain mapping here. I have decided that I wanted the option of putting advertisements on and I understand that WP has a policy against it. I wish to keep the domain name but does changing the host allow me to do so (ie. MediaTemple)?
If so, can you please guide me through this process? Do I need to sign up with a host before cancelling with WP?

You are welcome to keep your domain with us and update the nameservers to point to another hosting provider by following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers
After 60 days from the date of purchase, renewal, or nameserver change, you may also transfer your domain to another registrar: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#transfer-to-another-registrar
You can of course still request a cancelation and refund, but you may not be able to re-register the domain name elsewhere.
