How do I cancel my wordpress.com blog where I registered my domain name?

    I registered a domain name with my wordpress.com blog, then realised I would be better using a self-hosted site with wordpress.org and so transferred my domain name to hostgator. However, now I cannot cancel my wordpress.com blog because I registered my domain name there (sctphotography.com). I changed the nameservers so the domain name points to the correct site, but I would like to completely delete my .com blog. When I enter my website name – Stephanie C Thomas Photography into google, the first site that comes up is my wordpress.com blog, which I no longer use and have set to private because I want to cancel it. Is there any way I can close this blog without losing my registered domain name?
