How do I categorize my posts ?

  Hi there,

  I’ve tried categorizing my posts according to the pages I’ve opened however I cannot find a way to do it.

  Anyone with an answer ?

  Hi there,

  So you want to display your posts according to the categories.
  For that first you need to create categories, then assign the posts the categories you want, then add those categories as category pages in the menu.
  For example, if you create a category ‘Tech’ and assign a post to this category, you can add the category ‘Tech’ as a category page in your menu to the display that specific post.

  Create Categories:

  1. Go to My Site → Manage → Settings.
  2. Click on the Writing option.
  3. Click on Categories.

  Assigning Posts to Categories:

  1. Go to My Sites → Site → Posts
  2. Click on the post you want to assign to a category.
  3. Under Document Settings on the right, expand the Category option.
  4. Click the checkbox next to the category you want the post to be assigned to and publish your changes.

  Add a category page to your menu:

  1. Go to My Sites → Design → Customize
  2. Go to Menus.
  3. Select the menu to edit.
  4. Click on Add Items.
  5. Select Categories.
  6. Click the Plus icon next to the Category you want to add.
  7. Click Publish to save the changes.

  Thanks a lot !!
  However even though I did everything that you’ve written I still cannot see my posts on the assigned category.

  %100 sure that I’m doing sth wrong here… : /

  Hey @vladosestakof,

  That’s because you haven’t linked the category pages in your menu.
  If you see https://takeyourpillzco.wordpress.com/category/design/, you’ll find your post under that.
  But not under https://takeyourpillzco.wordpress.com/design/ which is just a page but not a category page.

  A category page will have category/[category-name] in the permalink.

  First remove all the pages like tech, design etc from your menu.
  To remove it,
  Go to My Sites → Design → Customize > Menus > Select the menu to edit > Click on the page(for example, ‘Tech’) and Remove.

  Once you are done with that, follow these steps below:

  Add a category page to your menu:

  1. Go to My Sites → Design → Customize
  2. Go to Menus.
  3. Select the menu to edit.
  4. Click on Add Items.
  5. Select Categories.
  6. Click the Plus icon next to the Category you want to add.
  7. Click Publish to save the changes.
