How do I center my posts?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi all,

I’m stuck. WordPress keeps undoing my custom CSS every once in a while. I started saving my changes, but recently, when I put my custom CSS back in, it no longer does all the stuff it used to. For one, my posts are no longer centered. Another issue is that the title and post info (date, email) are displaying too large as well.

If someone can tell me what I need to fix (and how!) it would be a huge help!

    Thanks in advance!
    Casey

    Hey jimmyjone!

It seems that your site (http://www.jimmyjone.com/) is not hosted on WordPress.COM. Your site is hosted on CyrusOne with a software install of WordPress.ORG which means that it is not applicable to this forum.

It would be better suited for you to ask this question at https://WordPress.org/support/ for a more accurate answer. If you don’t have a WordPress.ORG account you’ll need to create one. Your WordPress.COM account won’t work there.

If you need any further assistance, let me know. Thank you for your understanding!

I don’t understand how it’s not applicable to this forum. CSS is CSS is CSS, right? Or does CSS work entirely differently between .com and .org WordPress sites? If there are people here who know CSS, I’m sure they can help me.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org differ from one another. People here do know CSS but the method of modifying the CSS is different. Your website is a WordPress.org plugin. Its ability of customization far exceeds WordPress.com.

Is it okay if I see if people here can help out, or do I have to delete the thread? Or will they all ignore me because you told me to go away?

I apologize if I came off mean or ignoring to you. We’re not trying to ignore you. We love to help anyone who needs it! In this case, your situation isn’t applicable to WordPress.com because the site runs differently in comparison to the WordPress.org software.

It’s possible people could help out here and could know your answer; nonetheless, asking on WordPress.org would be more appropriate to your situation. There will be accurate help and more depth provided.

There’s also no need to delete the thread. It’s fine being kept up. If anything, it’ll be closed by staff.

You can also read about the differences here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    Hope this helped!

@jimmyjone, there are options for you as a self-hosted WordPress user that are not available to us here at WordPress.com, and if we were to answer your questions, and they would involve answers that are not available here, it could confuse WordPress.com users, which is why we suggest you contact your theme designer, or post on the self-hosted WordPress.org support forums.

Best of luck to you and I’ll close this thread.
