How do I change a home page template?

    I am using the Restaurant theme. It enables me to combine 3 chosen previews on the home page in a box for readers to click on. However, the clickable sub-menus show up BEHIND each of the boxes. I imagined that if I added a ‘featured image’ that a bigger space would emerge between the menu items and the boxes. Nope. What can I do? Or what am I doing wrong? You can see my dummy site at fullcityshift.com and eventually I am trying to build a new site at eightfoldeats.com. Keep in mind that this is all FREE web building – aside from paying for the template, this is NOT a self-hosted site. So there is no option to add plug-ins. Thank you in advance! Please help!!
