What do your mean by host? The blog linked to your username is being free hosted by WordPress.com.

You have two separate email address settings at WordPress.com.
Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.
Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.

When I put in my email address I didn’t realise that my name would be in the link.
I have now created a new email address with the name of the blog in the link which is what I want.

I know I have two email addresses, but this is a third one as I’m setting up a blog for someone else.

I have done the right thinks for this,but no confirmation email has arrived in the last 4 hours !!

OK yes I had checked spam, but have now found confirmation email it hadn’t been forwarded to my desktop mailbox. BUT, having clicked the confirmation link I see my blog url has not changed from katie.katie !
How do I change that ? Will I have to start all over again ?
