How do I change “email requirement”?

I have set my blog to allow users to leave a comment without having to login or leave an email address. When users click on a comment link, however, it says that email is required. How do I change this? thanks.

There is no way to remove that. It is part of the themes comment.php page and can’t be accessed.

Does this mean that you can’t leave anonymous comments on a wordpress blog? If I try to leave a comment, without entering a URL I receive the following message:

Error: please fill the required fields (name, email

The actual html code showing the email address and the form is part of the comment.php page. You can turn off the requirment though for an email address and name if you go into your Dashboard -> Options -> Discussion -> “Comment author must fill out name and e-mail” and “Comment author must have a previously approved comment” and make sure that those boxes are unchecked. Also make sure you have the Dashboard -> Options -> General -> “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” unchecked as well.

Do note though that I have a feeling that you’ll get a fair amount of spam now as well. :)

    Hope this helps,
