How do I change my free domain name?

    I signed up for a free domain: tothefern.wordpress.com, but have decided that I want the name of my site to be “Under The Fern,” and therefore would like to change my free domain to underthefern.wordpress.com. How do I do this?

    I already went into Settings and changed the web address to http://underthefern.wordpress.com, and that change appears to have been saved, but the URL of my blog still has the original name.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Register a new blog –

    Dashboard >> My Blogs >> Register a new blog

    You can have more than one blog per user name

    Then export the little bit of content from the first blog and import it to the new blog

    yes there is a change blog URL – don’t use that option – too many people use that and the old URL goes away then they have second thoughts and can’t get the old name back

    Once the content is transferred from the old blog – set the old content to “Private” or “Draft” or the Posts and Pages can be deleted – leave a note on the old blog that you have moved

    Okay, by “export” the content do you mean there is an official way to transfer posts to another blog? Or do you mean create new posts on the new blog and copy and paste my content?

    I don’t want to create new posts with my old content as I would like the posting dates to stay the same. Is this possible?
