How Do I Change My Post Font?
-
I like posting my posts by copying from microsoft word (with the fonts I wanted), but when I publish it the fonts are all the same (I want various fonts). Please help me thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Don’t post by copying from Word. Just, don’t.
Try Windows Live Writer as a much better alternative.
-

Then what should I do? Write it directly? Cause my posts are writings, and I usually write in word, and some of them are a lot.
-
If you don’t want to write directly into the blog editor, try downloading the software I linked you to above. It will allow you to write offline, format your posts (as you would in Word) and then upload them without inserting all the random code which Word does and which screws up your blog.

Apparently Windows Live Writer does not work on a Mac. Is that correct? Are there any alternatives?
-
Mac has MarsEdit and Ecto. Of the two I prefer Ecto, but they are not free downloads. Ecto I believe is $17.95 and MarsEdit is I think $29.95.
There could be some free ones for Mac out now, I haven’t searched for them in quite a while. Try searching for “blog editor” mac. Blogo I have but have not yet messed with. It doesn’t look like it supports categories though and there is also Qumana which does support categories and is free. There is also the “scribfire” plugin blog editor for Firefox which is free.

Rosclarke said above “don’t use Word, just don’t” Can someone explain why?
I am a highly confused newbie. On my dashboard there is an icon which is labelled “Paste from Word” If I’m not to use Word, why is that icon there?
Rosclarke also mentioned a link to some software. Can I have the link please.
Thank you for helping me.

Word will destroy your blog; if not today, eventually. And it’s a horrible amount of work to undo.
Ros gave you the link. Just click on it.

@mikestevens38: To be precise, what one must avoid is pasting directly from Word to the visual post or page editor. This will introduce extra code that will eventually mess up the blog:
And that’s exactly the reason why the “Paste from Word” button is there: it accepts the text, but filters out the junk that came with it. It’s also ok if you use the “Paste as Plain Text” button, or if you paste into the html editor.
In general, you must paste plain text in the visual editor, then format it with the editor’s tools. Or you can prepare the formatting using Windows Live Writer. Or you can prepare it in a text editor using html coding (if you know html), then paste the coded version into the html editor.

Thanks panaghiotisadam. I understand much more after your explanations. However there are 2 more questions that I have:
1. I have already pasted directly from Word to my blog. Raincoater said that it will destroy my blog, if not now, then eventually. Does that mean I have done something that is irrepairable? what should I do now, delete the offending text?
2. Raincoater also said that Ros had given me a link. I can’t see it in these series of posts? Can someone give me the link please.
Thanks again for all your help, it is much valued.

@mikestevens38: You’re welcome.
2. Ros gave a link to Live Writer; but that was before you said you’re a Mac user.
1. Nothing’s irrepairable. But what you can do to best clear up the posts depends on their content. In a post with no links or images etc., the easiest and most surefire, wipe-all-junk, method is to highlight all the text in the visual editor, copy it and paste it in the html editor. If you only have one or two links or images, it might still be worth doing that, and rework links and images again afterwards. If you’ve got many, the easy thing to do is highlight all the text in the visual editor and click the “Remove formatting” button (eraser icon). This won’t remove every unnecessary piece of code, but it will probably take care of the more problematic ones (without also wiping out your links, images etc.).

Thanks guys. But when I paste using the “paste from word” icon, the fonts are different from the ones in Word. Why? And after we download Windows Live Writer, what should we do?
Thanks. -

@panaghiotisadam Quite right – I’ve done that, with Word and the Paste from Word button, right from the outset, without the slightest difficulty. Typing directly into the New Post pane, even in Full Page mode (in FF3), is just too clunky for all but the shortest posts, or for updates/edits.

You can change the size of the post box under Settings; I doubled it, and I find that to work quite well. The default is just too short.
