How do I change quotes in The Truly Minimal Theme
-
I am using The Truly Minimal Theme and I want to remove the ugly quotes that appear when I choose blockquote. This is the huge open quotes that you can see in my blog where there is a block quote; are so big that they look ugly in a minimal theme.
My question is, if I buy Custom Design, will I be able to change the css to remove the quotes, so if I use blockquotes from the menu while editing no huge quotes will appear; the quoted text will be just indented?
I wasn’t sure because there is a warning on the Custom Design shopping cart which says that “Please note, however, that the Custom Design upgrade does not allow direct theme editing or the upload of templates or custom themes.”

Custom Design allows you to change the appearance of your blog, and the appearance of how the blockquote is displayed could certainly be changed with that upgrade.

Hi there, as @1tess says, yes you can remove the quote mark on blockquotes. Below is the code you would use for the theme you are using, and you can try it out in the CSS preview. Go to Appearance > Customizer click on CSS and delete the informational text in the window that slides open and then paste in the following and you can see how it will look.
blockquote:before { content: ""; } -
@thesacredpath: thanks, this is what I wanted exactly. So now I will have to buy the Custom Design and then change the blockquote css with the above code? Is this correct? Or do I need to paste it after the existing code in the css file?

Yes, if you wish to remove the grey quote mark in the blockquote, you will need the Custom Design upgrade. After getting the upgrade, you will paste the code into the CSS window, just as you did to preview it and then click the “save” button at bottom right.
