How do I change the "a" records for my domain?

I am trying to update my DNS records (the “a” record) but the “Manage your Domains” interface does not seem to allow you to do that?
Do you have to change the nameservers first?
Appreciate any help.

Domains registered at WordPress do not have the option to change A record. If you need to change the A record for your root level domain, i.e. example.com, you’ll need to use one of these options instead:
1. New Registrar
Transfer the domain out to another registrar that allows A record change. This guide explains how to transfer the domain name to another registrar:

Use a subdomain instead of root domain. An example of a subdomain is “blog.example.com”. To create a subdomain, please follow the instructions here:
