How do I change the featured image size, font size, and show gallery captions?

  I’ve just switched themes on my site to Illustratr. There are three things I need to change and I don’t know where I make those changes. If someone could point me to the place to set these things I’d appreciate it.

  1. I need to change the size of the Featured Image. I am uploading a long, narrow image and the site seems to reformat it to a shorter, thicker one.

  2. I need to make the font size smaller.

  3. My gallery does not show the Captions for each image. Where do I correct that?

  Hi there,

  1. I need to change the size of the Featured Image. I am uploading a long, narrow image and the site seems to reformat it to a shorter, thicker one.

  The featured image size is built into the Illustratr theme and can’t be changed. Featured images work best in this theme when they are at least 800 pixels wide.

  2. I need to make the font size smaller.

  You can use Custom Fonts (including customizing the font size) as part of the Custom Design features. You can upgrade your site to use those features on the Store page in your site’s dashboard.

  3. My gallery does not show the Captions for each image. Where do I correct that?

  When you click on each image in a gallery, the gallery carousel opens with the caption underneath, for example here: http://orchestrasounds.com/2015/01/09/45-the-colors-of-melody/#jp-carousel-8640

  If you’d like the caption to pop up when viewing the gallery, you can use a tiled gallery style instead of a thumbnail gallery. With tiled galleries, the caption will pop up when you hover over the image in the gallery.

  rachelmcr, thank you for your assistance. My apologies for the delay in saying so.

  I was reasonably content with the look of the site, but I thought I’d start off the new year with something different. I didn’t realize the varieties and options that the different themes have. I just assumed that everything worked the same way my old theme did.

  Oh well, life is a learning experience, right? I’m thinking about the options you presented, but I will probably go with another theme. Now I know at least some of the things to check for when I preview them.
