How do I change the website name for the blog I created today?

  While setting up my blog, I selected “dot com” expecting to be charged $18 for the URL candy-tree.com. Instead, it says that my URL is “candytreedotcom.wordpress.com”.

  I am actually thankful the URL As the title of my blog will be Roots, Dreams & Little Things, I would like to purchase the URL rootsdreamslittlethings.com (NOT candy-tree.com or candytreedotcom.wordpress.com).

  I understand that means I need to purchase the name, but how can I ensure I will be guided to a link that will allow me to do so. OR is it best to purchase the domain name on GoDaddy?

  More clearly stated: I would like to replace my current blog URL, candytreedotcom.wordpress.com with the URL rootsdreamslittlethings.com.

  You have several options – what follows is my opinion

  Register rootsdreamslittlethings.wordpress.com – you can have more than one blog with a single account – I just like the base WordPress.COM blog to match the mapped domain name – less confusion for me and I think a bit more class – go to

  Dashboard >> My Blogs >> Register a new blog

  Then register and map rootsdreamslittlethings.com to the blog – register the new name and map it from the Dashboard of the blog you want rootsdreamslittlethings.com to be mapped to

  Registering the domain name here is good – WordPress.COM is a low cost registrar so you save a few dollars

  Note: you can if you want map rootsdreamslittlethings.com to any blog you have here – the above was just my opinion –

  the extra “dotcom” that was added seems to be some sort of “feature” that happens to people – not sure why, if the instructions are not quite clear or if there is a bug in the system once in a while

  And if things get messed up – DON’T DELETE ANYTHING – the staff here can fix most anything except a Deleted blog
