How do I change the width of a block?

    Dear all,
    I started building my new site, but I cannot understand how can I change the width of a block? There is no such item in any menu. When I click on a particular place where I want to insert the block, I see a bold blue line which shows the width that I need. However, after I insert a block, it automatically assumes the width of an existing column, and I can’t change it. It seems that I am trying to insert a block within an existing group – maybe that is the problem? I chose VIVRE from the theme library. Can anybody give me a good advice, please?

    Hello Dainius,

    You may find that you are inserting the block into a ‘group’ block which restricts the width of the blocks inside it.

    I particularly like using the “list view” in the Site Editor to check if I am adding one block inside a group block (or other type of container, such as a columns block). The list view is indicated in this part of the guide:

    This image shows the setting which lets you restrict the width of blocks inside group block:

    If you happen to be adding other blocks within a group block, it can be worth switching off this setting to see if the blocks are showing at the width you prefer!

    Dear 95percentghost,
    Thank you for the guidance. It was very helpful, in particular, the part about changing settings that restrict the width of blocks – by toggling it off I could change the width to the full page, as I intended to.
