How do I change URL of new blog to existing URL

    Hi
    I have a blog I am no longer using. I created a new blog, but mistakenly created a new URL for it. I want the new blog to be under the old URL (phylo1.wordpress.com). I want to get rid of cantyouseetherealme.wordpress.com. I want that blog under phylo1. I can have one URL for multiple blogs, can’t I? I’ve been all over the support pages but not finding them very helpful and it’s driving me crazy.

    Hi,

    I think you can re-use the phylo1 site for your new blog without an issue. You can change the theme and delete the old contents (if any) and start again.

    As for the new cantyousetherealme blog, you can either delete it or just leave it be, in case you want to use it later (because once you delete it, it can’t be re-used again).

    Thank you, but my problem is I can’t seem to figure out HOW to do that. I want my new blog to be available via phylo1.wordpress.com but can’t find a place to make that change. I thought I had, but it didn’t seem to work.

    I don’t think there’s a way to automatically do that.

    You will have to setup phylo1 again the way you did with canyouseetherealme.

    So you will need to change the theme on phylo1, copy-and-paste your post(s) on canyouseetherealme to phylo1, and so on. All have to be done manually.

    Since there is only the one post on canyouseetherealme, copying it from the Post Editor and pasting it into the Post Editor on phylo1 should work.

    In order to change the theme on phylo1 to the theme that canyouseetherealme is using, you can do so in phylo1’s Dashboard>Appearance>Themes and then type “truly minimal” in the search box there and then activate the new theme.

    I also suggest keeping canyouseetherealme, make it Private so only you can see it (it won’t be crawled by search engines or publicly accessible) and using it for testing. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

    As hafizr said, once you delete a site, it is permanently gone and not even you will be able to reuse it.

    Oh for pity sake- too complicated. I think I’ll go back to blogger and start over. I’m a newbie at all this and it shouldn’t be so gd complicated.
