How do I clear the account information to import a tumblr blog to wordpress
-
Hi,
I’m trying to find out how to import my tumblr blog to wordpress. I removed the custom domain mapping but I have no idea how to : “As one or more of your Tumblr blogs has a Custom Domain mapped to it. If you would like to import one of these sites you will need to temporarily remove the custom domain mapping and clear the account information from the importer to import. Once the import is completed you can re-enable the custom domain for your site.”
Can you help me with this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, you might get faster assistance with this issue via the LiveChat and email support link https://wordpress.com/help/contact since it looks like you have a paid upgrade on your above site.
Let us know how that goes.

Good morning –
I’ve had a look at things. davidpress.net is registered here with WordPress.com and pointing to Tumblr. That’s why you see the Tumblr page loading with davidpress.net.
What are your plans for the domain? Do you want to use the domain here at WordPress.com but import the content you had previously on Tumblr?

Hi Liz,
Exactly. I’d like the domain here at WordPress, but import the content from Tumblr. I’ve followed the WordPress instructions to do so and removed the custom domain mapping from the old Tumblr website so it’s no longer using davidpress.net so that I can import the content but for some reason there’s still a big red x next to davidpress.net [the tumblr] because it’s a custom domain so my question is how do I clear the account information? I’m assuming that’s the issue, and then I can import the content.
Does that make things any clearer?

Hi there,
First, point the domain back to your WordPress.com site. Go to My Site ->Domains and click on the domain. Then click on Name servers and DNS, and click the toggle to use WordPress.com’s name servers.
Then go to the Apps section in Tumblr settings and remove WordPress there: https://www.tumblr.com/settings/apps – I’ve already disconnected the importer for your site on our end. Also make very sure in your Tumblr settings the domain is no longer mapped on that end.
Once you’ve removed WordPress on Tumblr restart the import on our end.
