How do I code my footnotes to jump to or popup with the note content?

  I am using the Esquire theme and have pasted in a Word doc with footnotes. I do not know how to code the footnotes so that the note number jumps to the bottom of the page where the note content is and back. I would actually prefer the note content to popup at the note number, but if that is too complicated, please let me know what code to insert at the note number and at the note content to at least get a jump. Esquire highlights the note number yellow when clicked but never jumps. Thank you!
