How do I configure my domain?
-
Hi,
I recently switched my website from being hosted through Ipage to wordpress, and this is the message that I get “olympic***********.com’s name server records should be configured. Learn more”When I click the link I get this message:
“Validating olympic***********.com
Non-WordPress.com NameserversAlthough olympic*************.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined below.
To learn about how to correctly map an existing domain, please see our documentation. If you’re not sure whether you own this domain or not, the WHOIS database record may help you out.”
I have no idea how to correct this. If anyone knows how to get past this message please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hello!
If you haven’t already, be sure to upgrade to add Domain Mapping by going to your Domains page (https://wordpress.com/domains/) and clicking “Upgrade” next to the question “Already own a domain?” Follow the instructions to map the domain to your blog.
Assuming you’ve already done this, the missing step is going back to where you purchased the domain name and logging into their control panel. Once you’re in, you need to remove any nameservers that already exist and replace them with:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMIf you need help with this, your domain provider’s chat or phone support will certainly be able to help.
Please note, this can take a day or so to update, so even after the changes are made, your domain name may not forward to your blog until the next day. You can see more info on this process at https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

My domain expired at the previous host so there’s nothing they can change on their end, and no way I can go in there to change anything, either. So I still don’t know how to get that configured.

Hello again!
I see that your blog is now properly mapped to your domain name, but the domain itself is still pointing to the old nameservers at IPage.
The domain registration did expire on January 3rd, but IPage still has it locked up and parked. They have control of the domain name registration currently, and so you’d need to reach out to them in order to get it renewed. This is a common courtesy with some domain registrants, designed to give you an opportunity to renew before the name is taken by someone else.
I would recommend giving them a call at 8774724399 for additional help.

HI there,
My domain expired at the previous host so there’s nothing they can change on their end, and no way I can go in there to change anything, either. So I still don’t know how to get that configured.
If your domain is expired, it means you no longer own it and you won’t be able to map it here. You’ll need to get that domain back by contacting the registrar, as @agent5959 also indicated above.
Failing that, let me know and I can remove the mapping upgrade and restore your plan’s free domain so you can use it to register a different domain.

I called my old host and I think everything’s taken care of. Thanks for pointing me in that direction!
