How do I configure my nameservers with authoritative zones?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Dear Sir / Madam

I recently attempted to map a domain name onto my Anthony Mullen wordpress site. The domain name was http://www.anthonymullen.ie.

However a problem arose when I tried to change the 3 nameservers on my domain registrat control panel.

the error message I got from the registrar was:

“The failure message you are seeing is due to the nameservers not being configured correctly with authoritative zones which are required to host the .ie domain name. Unlike the nameservers hosting domains in the .com namespace, those used to host .ie domains must be configured with authoritative zones before they can be successfully added to a domain. In order to correct this, you will need to ask the hosting provider that supplied these nameservers to you.”

    Can you assist?

    Regards

    Hiya Cormac,

It doesn’t look like you have purchased domain mapping for the domain anthonymullen.ie quite yet. Once you buy domain mapping, our system creates a zone file for it, and your domain registrar should allow you to point the domain.

You can purchase domain mapping by logging in to your account and then going to the Dashboard of the blog where you want the domain to resolve and going to Store >> My Domains. You’ll see an option there to add a Mapped Domain.

Keep in mind that the addition of a zone file still requires a propagation period. This can take up to 72 hours, so you’ll need to be patient as that occurs!
