How do I connect FileZilla to my wordpress account?

  • Unknown's avatar

I want to upload a file to my account I created with you guys —- http://www.brayomi.wordpress.com —- using the FileZilla client but I have a small issue here. Please help me out. What do I fill in the values; ‘Host’, ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ provided for in the FileZilla client? Thanks in advance.
The file is just a twitter API issue customised by me.

    Specifically the ‘Host’ part…..

You do not have FTP access at WordPress.COM – security issue

The Host Would Be The Main Directory File Name And Username And Password Will Likely Be The Same.

The information you have posted is not accurate for WordPress.COM blogs

Thanks guys. I’ll have to look for an alternate option then…..

Do you know of a better site that you can recommend? A better one that you know..

Files can be uploaded here – just not with FTP and the file types are limited for security reasons: http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/

You can upload files directly into your Media section of your dashboard if you want.

As for other hosts – if you want to host your own site WordPress.ORG has a list of companies they recommend – there are other “free” hosts but keep in mind that you get what you pay for – I moved here to get out of the System Admin business and don’t want to worry about that stuff anymore.

What do you need FTP access for and what file type did you want to upload? You can probably store the file on another site such as Dropbox and link to the file from your blog here.

They were PHP files as I was patching up a customised twitter client so I thought my blog could be used as a domain name with the extension to the twiiter client itself. Can’t use dropbox for this specific purpose.
