How do I contact regarding Gravatar issue?
-
The Gravatar contact page (http://en.gravatar.com/support/contact-us/) says “Gravatar support is closed at the moment.” Why a contact form would ever be closed is beyond me. Anyway, I need to contact someone at Gravatar because one of the URLs requesting an image for me is returning an incorrect image. The URL has a specific size, domain, and rating assigned to it, and changing any of those values results in the correct image being returned. So I think is some sort of problematic caching issue or something on the Gravatar servers. Unfortunately, I have no control over the URL that’s being sent (it’s on one of the sites that I visit).

I meant to mention, the Gravatar page that says it’s closed then links to this forum for support. Since this question is not about a blog, it’s also odd to be directed to this forum if this forum is only for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. In any case, I think I’m at the right place (since WordPress.com bought Gravatar).

I haven’t been able to get through to Gravatar support in a week, and likewise get redirected to these forums. What’s up with that? WP pulling the plug on Gravatar? It’s insanely frustrating not being able to even e-mail them for support.

Why a contact form would ever be closed is beyond me.
The closing of contact forms and loop-back linking to these peer forums rather than to Staff support forums is crazymaking. I’ve tagged this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

@ fotiman, can you provide a link to where your Gravatar image isn’t showing up correctly? I’d be happy to take a look and see what’s going on.

Sure, this URL displays the incorrect image:
http://www.gravatar.com/avatar/8e6baec498353c94d0545a84daed4327?s=160&d=http%3A%2F%2Fcss-tricks.com%2Fimages%2Fget-gravatar.png%3Fs%3D160&r=RBut if you change any of the parameters (s, d, or r), then it displays the correct image. For example:
http://www.gravatar.com/avatar/8e6baec498353c94d0545a84daed4327?s=161&d=http%3A%2F%2Fcss-tricks.com%2Fimages%2Fget-gravatar.png%3Fs%3D160&r=RThanks.

Hi there,
I see the same image (your current Gravatar) at both of the links you provided. If you aren’t seeing it as expected, you may need to refresh your browser or clear your browser’s cache and cookies.
Can you give that a try and let me know if it resolves the issue for you?
-
Hmm… I am also seeing the correct now. I had tried clearing my cache, I even tried multiple browsers, and they were all giving the same old (wrong) image for that first link. Now, though, I’m seeing the correct image (note, I did not clear my cache at all since posting that link yesterday).
I’m not sure what changed, but it seems to be fixed now. :)
