How do I control the sidebar in the Oxygen theme?

  Dear WordPress,

  I recently changed to the Oxygen theme. It is displaying duplicate sidebars on the right-hand side AND the left-hand side. I have searched for how to control that. I don’t need double sidebars – just one.

  On my old theme, I could control that, but thus far I don’t know how on this one.

  How do I control the sidebar in the Oxygen theme? (Is that possible in the free version without the upgrade? Is it even possible if you DO upgrade?)

  I haven’t used that theme yet so unsure, but a little peek into the code says that the right sidebar area is called Tertiary. Perhaps it is a widget area that you can modify. Have a look.

  When all else fails, with the Custom CSS upgrade it is possible to hide one of the sidebar (and then maybe alter the main area to be a little wider and occupy the now empty space).

  a) On Oxygen, as on most themes, the sidebars aren’t optional: you have to use to use both.
  b) There’s no such thing as “duplicate sidebars”. If your two distinct sidebars display the same widgets, that’s because you added the same widgets to both the “Primary” and the “Secondary” sidebar. You need to add some widgets to Primary, and different widgets to Secondary.
  c) If you had the upgrade you could remove the one of the two (or both). If you don’t have the upgrade, and the number of sidebars is important to you, you need a different theme.

  @hfzrhmn: Don’t be misled by the IDs or classes, as they don’t have to correspond to what the dashboard says. The code calls the two sidebars secondary and tertiary (because it calls the main column primary), but as you can see in my previous reply the two sidebars are called primary and secondary in Appearance > Widgets.
