How do I copy a post?
-
I am trying to copy a post and I do not have the ‘writing helper’ option in my ‘screen options’. I have a button on the left nav bar that says ‘copy a post’ but it doesn’t seem to work. Any ideas?
Thanks. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Click on the Screen Options tab when you’re on a new post editor page: https://formandfoliage.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php there you should be able to see the ‘Writing Helper’ option.
Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

Ok now I have writing helper as an option, it is clicked, but I still don’t know what to do to copy a post. When I am on the ‘Add New Post’ page what specifically do I do to copy an existing post? Using the tab on the left nav bar just gets me a blank ‘Add New Post’ page.
Thanks! -
This is the page you need to be on https://formandfoliage.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php?cap#cap
Then carefully follow the steps in this guide on how to copy a post: http://en.support.wordpress.com/copy-a-post

That’s the page that I’ve been on and the guide that I’ve been using. Even though the ‘writing helper’ is checked in the ‘show on screen’, I don’t see the ‘copy a post’ anywhere. The guide says that it appears ‘within the writing helper module below the editor on the Add a Post screen.’ Where is that? I don’t see the writing helper module anywhere. There is a ‘copy a post’ button on the left nav bar, but when I click it nothing happens and I see other forum posts in other places saying that it is defunct.
Sorry to belabor this…I am usually reasonably quick to follow instructions…

What do you see right below the editor at https://formandfoliage.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php?cap#cap ?
Do you see ‘excerpt’? or ‘writer helper’ ?
Do you also encounter this issue in a different browser? for example Firefox or Google Chrome?
-
When you say ‘the editor’ to what are you referring? I see nothing on my screen that says ‘editor’ and I don’t see ‘excerpt’ OR ‘writer helper’. I just tried using Firefox (usually I use Safari) and see nothing different. I am really feeling feeble….

The editor is the area where you type your post content in.
If possible, send me a screenshot, so I can better understand the issue. You can simply upload the screenshot to your Media Library, like any other image, and I’ll be able to access it from there.
The page at the following link has some helpful tips for taking screenshots:

Thanks for the screenshot. You need to scroll down a bit to see the ‘Writer Helper’ section. It’s just below the big white space in the center.
Otherwise feel free to scroll down and take another screenshot.

Eureka! Now I see the Writer Helper part. So when I click on ‘copy a post’, it copies the title but does not populate the body. When I click on ‘preview’, I get just the title, no post. Any more thoughts? At least we made some progress…

I just took a look. When you click on the Easter Egg Hunt posts, you only get the title because there is no content in those posts. However, for the other posts that do have content, clicking “copy” works for me.
Can you please try that, and if it doesn’t work, take a screenshot for how it looks when you click copy on a post that has content?
