How do I copy media files?

    I understand that my website is looking for the media files in the particular folder set up by month. I have now added a new media item and want to save it to the folder where it will be found, but I don’t know how to paste a file into the correct path.

    In my case the file wants to go to: /wp/content/uploads/2021/04/

    Since we are now in June it ‘automatically’ is stored in /wp/content/uploads/2021/06/

    1. How do I move it?

    2. Who at WordPress thought this was a good idea to hard specify a folder? It has been plaguing me for months, every time I add a new image.

    Hey there,

    I have now added a new media item and want to save it to the folder where it will be found,

    Can you clarify what it will be found by? When you add a new post or page, or add that new image to an existing post or page or place on your site, the media library will still know how to find it in its new folder, so you shouldn’t have to manually move it anywhere.

    Also, could you send a link to the site you’re having trouble with?
