How do I correct the Error #1064 when importing to a hosted site?

    I exported my blog and it downloaded an XML file on my computer. I then imported the file into my new hostgator account after successfully downloading wordpress onto that site, and I get an Error #1064. The service at hostgator said it appears to be an error in the code of the XML file.
