How do I create a description for the blog, the kind that search engines can use

Where do I put in the description of my blog, the one that will appear in search engines?. It is different than my subtitle, or the About page, or the words that start off the current post. I see it on most blogs and other sites but I can’t figure out how to create it here. And I can’t get into the HTML text for my blog so I could insert it as a meta description. Thanks.

That level of customization is not possible at WordPress.com.
Most search engines will either use your Tagline or part of the post/page content.
