How do I create a menu of posts with photos that link to posts in Bueno sidebar?

  I cannot create the right sidebar menu the way the Bueno sample displays it: ie with a brief post description and photo.
  I have tried many menu options over 4 hours. What I have ended up with is a summary of my two posts at the bottom of my page. One of those links to the post with a click and one of them does not. Please help. I am new to this, but not absolutely unfamiliar. I have created two websites with MAC templates.
