How do I create a simple landing page?

Add topic to favorites
I don’t want paralax, I don’t want scrolling images, etc etc.

Literally all I want is

(a) a background image
(b) a text area in the center of the page
(c) a one-field form below the text area to collect email addresses

I have tried so many different one page themes but none of them seem to work. I tried the landing page plugin but the templates which would work for me are premium. I have created complex websites through WP before yet I just cannot seem to create a simple landing page with just three elements.

Can anyone help?

Sorry, that’s not the blog I need help with. The WP forum is difficult to use on Android and I couldn’t select the right one.

The first challenge is knowing which flavor of WordPress you are using. :) Once you know which flavor, you can head to the relevant support forum. As staff-arya mentioned, your site isn’t hosted here on WordPressdotcom. It’s using the open source WordPress software.
