How do I create a static page that isn't also the home page?
-
I would like a static page for when folks first come to my site, instead of all of my posts being right there. But in customization, when I do create a static page, it becomes the “home” page too, and I lose a spot where my posts are, where all my blog posts are… I’d like a static page where there’s an option to click “posts” or “home” and it brings you to my blog posts. Does this make sense?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Karen,
I think what you’re looking for is really just a case of re-labeling. You will still want to follow all of the instructions for creating a Static Front Page (http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/), and then once you do, you’ll also want to create a custom menu in which your point users to a “home page” which is actually the blog page you specified.
You can learn about how to create custom menus right here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
Once both of those are in place, you’ll just need to take care to link your users to your blog page whenever you want to direct them there. In fact, the page which hosts your blog posts can even be called “home” (while your static front page could be called “welcome” or something similar). That way there is less confusion.
Let me know if any of the above was confusing or didn’t make sense. I’ll be happy to help!
