How do I create discussion threads?

I am teaching a college class in Business Ethics and I want a private discussion forum in which my students and I can post responses to weekly discussion questions.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @professorholt, no problem. We do something very similar here.
First, make the site private. You can do that under https://wordpress.com/settings .
I recommend using either P2 Classic or the new P2 Breathe:
https://wordpress.com/themes/p2-breathe/They aren’t super fancy looking, but they’re both excellent for discussion threads. There’s a video here that explains more:
