How do I create more space on my blog?
-
My blog is at 84% capacity and I’m not sure what to do. I am going back into old pictures and scaling them down by 50% so they’ll be smaller files. I am doing this through the media library ‘edit image’ option. Will this work? I’d like to know before I spend hours re-scaling all the images… :)
Do I have any other options? I have a pretty photo-heavy blog. Is it typical to run out of room?
Thanks!

Re-scaling your images won’t free up space because the original image is still there in case you want to revert, even if you don’t see it in the Media Library.
The #1 cause of running out of room is uploading the original image straight out of your camera or phone. This is particularly painful since most sites only display a smaller version of the image anyway. In Imbalance 2, that seems to be 960 pixels wide on full width pages at the very most.
If you don’t want to delete and re-upload resized, optimized images to free up space, since your account is older than September 2014, you should be able to purchase an annually renewable Space Upgrade directly in your site’s WP Admin Dashboard>Store>Store http://elizaspelledbackwards.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php
You could potentially upload your images someplace else on the web that allows hotlinking and then use the Insert by URL feature, but this will only work for single images, not the Gallery feature and not the Featured Image.
