How do I credit photos I've used from Flickr to the owner?

I’ve used photos from Flickr in my blog. I want to show credit to the rightful owners. How do I do that? Right now, when I click on the photo, it takes me to a page and just shows the same photo. Thank-you.

Generally speaking, people on Flickr give you the instructions. Under “Copyright” you can see how they’ve licensed it; many people license pictures only on the condition they are given a link AND named credit. Others have different requirements. You need to see what the photographer has set as conditions.

The first thing you need to do is get permission. It might be a nice photo and all, but that doesn’t mean people want you using it for your own purposes. Second, when getting permission, ask how they would like to be credited, they may prefer a link to a different site than Flickr, for example or none at all.

Once permission is obtained, there are several ways to give credit and you can use more than one. When you edit the photo you can use Title, Alternative Text and Caption as well as linking to the url. You can also refer to the photo and source in text in the page.

Hi! Thank-you very much for your advice. I did contact the owner of the photo, and he gave permission to use the photo. He said I could try linking to the URL. I know how to copy the URL from Flickr, but could you tell me where to paste it in media on my blog? And, how do I use Title, Alternative Text, and Caption? Would I put the owners name or URL in these slots? This is the link to my blog: http://ireneebird.wordpress.com/2013/02/27
