How do I customize my Archive widget?

  I have posts that are archived monthly that go back over three years and the list is getting too long for my first page. How do I list only the last twelve months and then yearly for any thing prior to the last twelve months?

  Please advise. thanks.

  There’s really no way to shorten that up. Instead, I recommend setting it to display as a drop-down menu.
