How do I delete 100 empty, inactive text widgets?

I must have 100 empty text widget fields in the “inactive” widgets section. I have no idea where they came from and I am unable to delete them.

I have now removed all widgets from the blog. Is it possible to purge these empty fields?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If they are in the inactive widgets section, they are not being used on your blog at all. Just leave them.

@RC – could they just drag them out of the inactive area and sort of drop them most anywhere or in the regular Widgets area?

Sure, they could. As long as there’s nothing in the text widgets, they essentially don’t exist.

The problem with these things is that they make the inactive widgets area difficult to use. When I drag an active widget to the inactive area it goes to the bottom of the section – which is about four screens down.

Also, I don’t understand the suggestion about dragging them somewhere. The only place they’ll move to is a sidebar and they don’t disappear. They still have to be deleted one at a time.
