How do I delete…?

How do I delete the large wording at the top of the site that says Welcome to WordPress.com as well as the button under it that says Call to Action? I’m trying to make this website for a school project and I need to make it look as real as possible. Also, I’m not sure how to edit the pre-made ‘featured content’ that has nothing in it into actual blog posts.
