how do I delete a category?

I made new categories when I meant to make tags. I want to remove all but the categories I actually use. I can’t find any way to do that.

You can do this in your WP Admin Dashboard; you can access this by adding /wp-admin/ to the end of your website address. For example, http://sundialwire.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
You can then edit categories under Posts -> Categories in your dashboard. Move your mouse over a category and several options will appear that allow you to edit, quick-edit, or delete that category.
